I saw the signs...

A few months after i bought the chickens, I have observed several signs that they are ready to lay eggs. The hen's comb, face and wattle turns bright red and she makes a "pre-egg song"  that sounds like "kaaak-kaak-kaak-kak"...like she's cooing. I also noticed that my hen seems friendly that when i try to touch her, she will do a funny squat bend down with her wings arched and then raise her butt as if a rooster wants to mate with her.  After I give her a back massage, she will stand up and then shakes and ruffles her feathers.

Here is Cutie Pie enjoying a back massage.

Another sign is a red comb, face and wattle.

Additons

Before the arrival of the chickens, I started to add some cages in preparation for the coming of the babies. I had my carpenter build 2 cages with 2 compartments each.

When the chickens started laying eggs, i made more additional cages.

The cages were made of recycled iron bars and chicken wire. I have made  4 cages  like these and each cage has 2 compartments. The problem with this kind of cage is that the most of my baby chicks staying here  always get sick and die. As a remedy,  I  placed lots of layers of recycled papers, old sacks and plywood inside it  then cover it well with old tarps or sacks so that Chicken Pie and her chicks will be warm at all times.

Arrival of the Chickens

It was around September when I bought my native chickens in San Miguel market. I stared with 12 hens and a 2 roosters.
Here they are, all tied up and unaware of what is happening.
I named my rooster, Mr. Pogi and Mr. Suave. I also named all the hens that I have.
There's Grace, Rhianna, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Snow White...
Tom and Jerry, Madam, Miss Gray...
It was a mistake giving names to all the hens. I always get confused about who's who. So I settled for a name that is easy to recall.  Now I'm calling all my hens, Chicken Pie.

Recycling Used Papers

My daughter asked me to make her a project about recycling. I was cleaning up my desk of old papers, magazines and envelopes at that time. So why not recycle these things. After about a few minutes of searching for creative ideas in the internet, I came up with this project:
