Glimpse of the old and the new.

     This farm has been a part of my childhood. Tatay used to bring me and my siblings here every weekend. We would spend hours catching dragonflies, rolling in the fresh hay or cutting kangkong for our grandmother's pigs. We would neatly arrange and bundle the long stalks of the kangkong, then put it on top of our heads and imagine it as our long hair. We sometimes cut the stalks of a certain grass and fashion it into earrings, bracelets and necklaces.
     But then, a few months ago, Senator Drilon gave Iloilo City a much needed project and converted this rice land  into a Circumferential road that will pass through Sambag, Jaro, Pandac, Pavia, going to Villa. And  our father's farm was not spared. On the day that they will bulldoze the farm, my sister and I were there to bid goodbye to a part of our childhood.
